Sandra Christensen

PVUSD Candidate for Governing Board

Sandra Christensen is a woman of God, a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a plan for each of us and Sandra believes that part of that plan is to use our gifts and talents to help others.

Active PTO

When her child was attending Pinnacle Peak Prep, she was active in PTO, a room parent, school event photographer/videographer, edited yearbook pages, chaperoned field trips, and was a Moms in Prayer Leader.

Horizon High Choir Accents

Currently, Sandra is a Horizon High Choir Accents supporter, volunteers as chaperone for choir trips, choral performances and donates time as photographer / videographer on retreats.

Curriculum

Over the past school year, she has been addressing PV school concerns at governing board meetings, reviewing and providing feedback on newly proposed school curriculum, and attending United Parent Council (UPC) meetings.

Parent’s Rights

She has also helped to organize parent meetings with PV district leaders to discuss parent concerns not addressed through UPC or governing board meetings.

Sandra strongly believes that parents have the right to direct their children’s education and upbringing in a manner consistent with their beliefs and their child’s unique needs, talents, and abilities. She supports the Arizona Parents’ Bill of Rights which recognizes a parent’s right to make healthcare decisions for their child and opt them out of any learning material or activity that they find harmful to their child. She believes that district policy must be followed when dealing with teaching materials that are sensitive in nature which includes notifying parents in advance and giving students an option for an alternative assignment with no penalties.

Why am I running…

As a governing board member, Sandra will focus on improving curriculum that will help students build essential skills in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, science, and technology. She believes that parents, educators, and governing board members should be partners in the success of our students by providing tools to enable them to achieve educational success and be well-rounded. The ability to participate in sports, the arts, campus clubs and to select from a wide variety of classes will prepare our students for whatever career or vocational path they may choose after graduation.
